going to santa ana river lake this weekend. i need help with what bait, hook size , line lb, best palce to fish their. new to freshwater and new to trout fishin.

For SARL or Santa Ana River Lake you will need 4 to 6 lb test line on a light action rod and reel setup.

Powerbait and worms will be your bait of choice. They actually sell the Crave brand of dough bait at the lake. You can buy nightcrawlers there too.

Tie a #12 treble hook on the end of your line and then attatch a 1/4 oz splitshot about 18 inches up the line. Cast out and wait for a fish to come by.

You don't need a license in that particular lake and are allowed to have 2 poles in the water at the same time.

the beer is a must. it was slow since the mourning an through out the day but i might be returning to SARL in a two weeks or so to take the little kids

I was just there yesterday.. caught a 3lb lightning trout and 2 rainbows weighing about 3lb each.. used powerbait.. i was fishing near the place where water rushes out..forgot what it was called on the map
