We had to put our old friend down today.. Her name is Shelby and she was a loyal friend to my wife and I.. She loved to get out and go fishing with me.. She lived a happy long life.. Finally at the age of 13 she couldn't hardly get around any more.. Shelby will be missed in our family.. Attached our a few photos of her.. The photo of her and I was just 1 hr before the dreaded drive to the vet..

Good by my old Friend..

It is one of the hardest things in life to put down or loose a family pet. Our rabbit is over 4 years old now and their life expectancy is 2 1/2 to 3 years. My kids will be heart broken when she goes.[unsure]

That is so darn hard. We put our 13 year old lab down about a year ago. I had to drive from Bear Lake over to Logan. It was the longest, Sadest drive I ever had. When she went into the vets she just curled up and laid down. She didn't even flinch when the vet shaved her leg or gave her the dreaded shot. What a great, awesome dog she was. We buried her in our back yard that same day. So I totally know what you're going through. We cried like babies all the way home. No shame there my friend! We now have another yellow lab and she's learning the ropes. I still get my old one's name mixed up with her's. If the new one turns out 1/2 as good as my old one, she'll be a good dog too. Life sucks, but it does go on!

Man, I feel for you. The picture brought tears to my eyes. My daughter had a yellow lab that I loved as much or more than any dog I've ever known & when he died I cried my eyes out & am not the least ashamed to say so.

That really hits home- my dog could be her twin- she's going to be 14 this fall. She still gets around - the only thing that bothers her right now is joint problems in her ankles. Last year was her last backpacking trip . My time is coming. I have mixed feelings because Sat I am picking up a new dog and I want her to impart some of her wisdom on a pup. Just don't want to make her feel like she is being pushed out because no dog will ever take her place.

I know just how you feel.. We were and still are looking for a new puppy.. I didnt feel rite about getting one before shelby was gone.. It felt like i was going to be pushing her out.. So we waited.. When we picked up our other dog ( Devine) she learned a grat deal from Shelby.. Now its time for Devine to be the teacher.. I hope ..
Thanks

Sorry for your loss. The best dog I ever had was the dog I went and got the day after my "Best dog ever" at the time un-expectedly died. Dogs are great! And I have found, they are also the best form of healing for losing a dog. Best wishes with the new one!

[#0000ff]Add my condolences to the list. Anybody who has ever lost a special pet knows the sense of loss you feel.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Why? Pets are not human...they are better than humans. No human ever gives back more love than you give them, with no regrets and no questions. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am attaching something that we got many years ago, after having to "put down" a ginger cocker named "Hey You", who had run our house and cleaned up the table scraps for over 17 years. Her headstone was spotted by a reporter later, and a story appeared in the paper. We got lots of calls from friends and family who recognized the name.[/#0000ff]
