Well not quite, but did draw an Expo tag a few weeks back. I figured I was just making a donation to a good cause. However, I was able to draw a Buffalo tag on the Henry's.
I am excited because I never figured on hunting buffalo during my lifetime. I hae always put in for sheep instead. It will be neat to scout and hunt an animal i have never hunted and an area I know nothing about.

Congrats Jason. I know a few guys over the years that have drawn tags down there. They say that the country down there is the roughest vehicle eating terrain they have ever hunted. You will cover a bunch of miles looking for those ghosts of the mountains.
Seriously, Take as much time off duringthe hunt as you can to learn the country. Its rough, Mean country. BE prepared!

That's awesome! Nice work on the tag. Those things are like mountain goats down there. It is no canned hunt! You usually have to work hard for what you get. Hopefully you aren't too far from a road, cause it's like packin' out 3 elk! Good luck.

I have heard that it is a difficult hunt; thats a good thing. What impresses me about this hunt is that it is one of only 4 free ranging herds of bison in the world.
I might haul my 96 Isuzu Rodeo down there to use it on the "rough" roads. I look forward to posting scouting and hunting pic's (harvest or no harvest) on BFT.

I have spent a ton of time down on that range of mountains and seen Buffalo about every other day from a distance alot of big bucks down there to if you need more info i can help or get you in touch with a few other people i know that have all took buffalo there and know the area [cool]

Way to go Jason, what month is your hunt? I drew out in 94 and it is a lot easier on the early hunt. My hunt was the last one that year and boy were those buffs spooky. It took me almost a month of hunting every weekend to get mine. Let me know if you need any info on the area.There are lots of roads to drive but the best areas are tough to get to.

First off, I appreciate your offer for the help. Thats a good question about the hunt dates. No one has been able to give me
an answer on that. I know that they have 3 cow hunt dates.
I have been told by SFW that they will be sending me a voucher and I should know then. I have talked to SFW and DWR and they
said they would get back to me.
I would prefer the earlier hunt. But I will be happy with any of the hunts.
