[cool][#0000ff]At the end of January, a group of DWR folks and a few invited perchaholics launched a perch search expedition on Starvation to find those elusive little devils. They swiss cheesed the lake in all the right places (???) but did not find any large numbers. They did come up with some interesting finds, however.[/#0000ff]

Interesting theory...I personally think they were abducted by aliens!

Just a theory. Maybe, just maybe mind you, the perch in the mighty vation have been munching on get start meds supplied by those low live chubs and carp. And for every hole that was punched in the ice above them during the study they swam backwards saying "Dont go to the light, dont go to the light!
On the flip side, maybe its as simple as they didnt have the munchies.

[cool][#0000ff]Who's on meds? Maybe you better change yours.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Starvation is just different than most of the other ponds we are used to fishing. Plus, it is far enough away that it does not get the winter traffic that closer perch waters do. Plus again, the water levels are different every year so it is tough to say for sure just exactly where the fish will be.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]This past year Starvation went WAAAAAAY down. Some of the spots where perch were last winter are not wet this year. Every year is a new puzzle to figure out.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We know there are tons of fish in there. What we don't know is a sure fire way to find them on every trip. There are some pretty good perch hounds that go away fishless, shaking their heads and wondering if they still got it.[/#0000ff]

I have been up there four times this year and have found them every time. We had good luck on two trips and not so good luck on the others. I enjoy the hunt for them, the perch don't stick around very long. I remember how pinview was, drop a glow in the dark jig down to the bottom and bring up a little perch. To me that got boring after a while. I do enjoy the fact that every time I hit starvation the fee is only 5 bucks and we have the lake to ourselves.

Yep uh huh uh huh. I was there. I caught 4 out of the 5 and Jay caught one 13 incher in sag. bay. Suppossedly the camera man for channel 2 filmed me and Jay for roughin it out doors. But we never did see it. I guess I too like the challenge of trying to find them. But the $3.50 a gallon and only 14 miles to the gallon is kicking my *$#* pocket book. But I too will be back. So if one of you guys need another Perch hound stop by and pick me up. Pikeman GOFISH

[cool][#0000ff]Don't look for me over there until about June. Prime time for post spawn walleyes and the perch are starting to come on pretty good by then too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]These ridiculous gas prices really make you check your priorities when you wanna go fishing.[/#0000ff]

Gas prices are going to be really bad this summer. Crude is over $100 a barrel. When diesel is $4 a gallon this summer it's going to get expensive.
