Six of us went on 4-wheelers out past Haws to just past the original Indian Creek dike. First time ice fishing up there, usually go to East Canyon, Rockport, or up around Malad. Have been many times on boat. Followed snowmobile packed trails out and at the old dike it goes up over the hill next to horse creek. Big mistake as at 2:30 when we went to go out had to walk the 4 -wheelers up over (after getting them unstuck several times) and then drag the big tents (quickflip IIIs) up the hill. Once over the hill only 1 4-wheeler got bogged down once in a little slush to the point of having to lift and move the 4-wheeler back on to the hard pack. Got back to the truck to load at about 5:00 so 2.5 hours for what took us 20 minutes in the AM. Lots of work, but the fishing was Ok but not hot. Caught around 36 cutts just off the bottom in about 36 feet between the six of us on anything white, glow, or bright green tipped with either wax worms or purple nymph power bait. One did not seem to outperform the other. Got over to the fish hole about 8:45 and may have done better if had been earlier as the bite slowed as the day progressed. Should have just worked just off the marina or between haws and the original indian dike or I better get me a snowmobile.
There for a little while thought I may have to set the tent back up and fish until morning when it froze up again. Might be getting too old for that much adventure in one day. Would have posted last night but was just too tired then.
