I took 3 neighbor kids to Newton to enjoy some warm weather ice fishing! We got out there and things were instantly hot! The youngest caught her first and second fish all on her own within seconds of drilling a hole!!! We only fished in 8 ft. of water so we didn't have a problem with air bladders and released over 50 perch in about an hour. We kept 20 and headed out. We walked out to my truck and loaded up then i had to go back and drag the 8 yr. old boy off the ice...he just loves ice fishing!!! Went back to their house and cooked up the perch PANKO style (thanks Pikeman) and their folks loved it! Great day on the ice. The guys fishing by the dam were getting a little bit of bluegill/crappie action but not as much as i'dve expected! 15 of the perch we kept were over 8" and 2 over 10" so maybe by next year it'll be worth fishin more! Get those kids out there, they'll love it and remember it forever!
