I am going to San Diego this July (with the 5th wheel trailer) anyone have info on good fishing trips (on the ocean), I went there about 2 years ago and the outfit I went with was O.K. $, but I was [unsure]not impressed with the knowledge they had about ocean fishing, I guess I could go on line and Google, but word of mouth is the only way to fish, THANKS[sly][/#400080]

I grew up in SoCal and will be there all summer this year. We have a family tradition of overnighters from San Diego or Ensenada chasing yellowtail, tuna and dorado. We have almost always done really well but with the recent price hikes, we have started to charter boats out of ensenada and actually prefer it. For 7 people, you can charter an overnight boat for $800. The overnight boats out of San Diego are $200 minimum. I will likely be doing several deep sea trips this summer. Let me know when you are interested and we might be able toinclude you in a charter.
Out of the San Diego harbors, I prefer fishermanslanding and on the condor or the New-LoAnn out of PointLoma Sportfishing. Good luck.

We've used Helgren's out of Oceanside on numerous occasions. We've never felt the need to look for anyone else to take us out.

If you check the websites of the sportfishing landings I sent you, they should have their prices listed.Be aware that a fuel surcharge may be imposed depending on how much fuel goes up.Those big sportboats pay almost as much for diesel as we do and they burn anywhere from 15 to 50 gallons an hour or more.I just talked to one of the guys who runs a boat up there and they could be paying up to $3.50 a gallon.
