I am from up North and well it is Spring Break from college. So me and a few friends were looking at taking a trip down to North Carolina and doing some fishing as I heard the catfishing is good. What are the lake conditions right now? I don't think you get ice that far south correct me if I am wrong. Is the lake clear of ice? may sound stupid to ask but i have never been south this time of year so I am asking. How are the cats biting? I got my own secret recipe for bait that I want to give a try down south. It works great up here at Lake Arthur. Best one was a 27" channel catfish with my secret recipe. I invented it from random stuff over the summer. I have sold it on ebay and only one person complained. I got compliments from all the others. I just want to get out and do some fishing. Anyone know do they offer day passes for out of state fisherman? How much are they? If not how much is an out of state license for the year? Let me know. Thanks. Any other info appreciated.

Take a trip to Murphy area. No ice just a little cool but warming up.

3 different lakes are within 45 minutes of town.

You can get a fishing license at the Wallys World over there.[cool]

Plans did not work out. *sigh* Oh well. We are taking a day trip instead to Cabela's. First time for me to actually go to Cabela's. I have to wait until summer to explore a little. We were going to go with friends but they had to do school work over break so no go as me and my gf can't go by ourselves her parents would not approve at all. We are both adults but she really takes her parents opinion seriously and we both figured there was no way.

Good on ya, Santaaa! You can not go wrong respecting her mom and dad. There is a new Cabelas in Olympia, WA about an hour and a half from me and I have not been there yet. I have heard it is a blast. Sorry you did not get to go fishing, but you will chase those cats around this summer!

Yeah. I can't wait until summer. 80 to 90 degrees and those monster catfish will be hitting again. I am just taking time to clean up my fishing poles with new line and stock the tackle box. I have also been tying some new pattern flies that look odd. Not real good ones though. I picked up some egg yarn today and I am going to tie some egg patterns. I am going to be ready once April roles around and I am going to start after trout. I never have trout fished before. I can't wait to go. I believe trout season opens April 12. So I am going to go. I have to get some 12 lb test line for my fishing pole to rig it for catfish. Just doing some Spring cleaning in my tackle box. I may just go fishing in PA by my house yep there is snow on the ground but it is melting. You never know I may get lucky.
