I might be moving from Utah to Sacramento in the next few months. I have done a little research on the fishing there, but couold not find any info on Northerns. I love catching the tiger muskies up here in Utah and love the toothy critters. Are there any bodies of water up north where northerns can be found? I know they poisoned one lake to rid the pike, but that is all I could find.

[cool][green]Hi there proline and welcome to California when ever you may come. Well the bad news is that several lakes are looking to eradicate the northern pike. Here is a link to the DFG as to what is going on at Davis Lake.[/green] [#008000][/#008000] http://www.dfg.ca.gov/lakedavis/

Welcome to Cali Proline and thanks for the question.
The Northern Pike ended up desimating some serious populations of fish not too long ago as you can see by the Fish And Game Dept article.
Someone did some bucket biology and screwed things up.
Because of climate issues and other serious factors, they don't have any of the nicer Toothy critter like we all like to fish for in UT as well as other states.
I lived in Sacramento for several years and was able to fish so many good areas there for LMB, Catfish, Stripers, Sturgeon, Shad,Trout, Steelhead and Salmon. There are also a few good areas for Smallies, Crappie and Sunfish.
I moved to UT for a few years after that and just before returning to Cali for the year round fishing that it offers.
What part of Sacramento will you be moving too? I can surely suggest many of the local spots which are accessible in any direction.
There are good areas of the American River, Sacramento River, Feather River and other tributaries to the local watershed.[cool]
