Awesome day in the parking lot watching waves and whitecaps for 3 hours waiting for some reprieve from the wind so I could launch. I thought I saw the front blowing through and kept watching, wow - what a waste of time. I did cast 2 times, combined length of the casts was about 30 feet into the wind.

Is there any way to find out the weather before heading down there?

Go to utahlakeview.com. They have a camera at the Provo boat harbor. Lindon is usually about the same. The website has a new name, but you should be able to get there still. They show they'll have a camera at Lindon soon.

Here is a link if you spend a little time learning how to use it you should find the info you are looking for

I have my own weather station and live by Utah Lake Provo Boat Harbor. Because the lake is so wide open, add just a few miles an hour to my wind numbers if there is a breeze.

Hope that helps and be careful, very dangerous lake if the wind picks up.

According to their website, beginning April 1st you will be able to look at a live camera at the Lindon Marina:

jeez a loo! Who knew we had Mark Eubanks on the BFT Board!

JB- Thats a pretty cool little weather site. I will be sure to use it in the future.

How does a guy get set up with something like that? Very cool stuff!

Davis Vantage Pro2 equipment and weather display software and a lot of time to set it all up. I really need some open water bad. Too much time on my hands I guess.

Very impressive site JB. It's a new addition to my 'favorites'.

Very cool site indeed. I wish that I had something like that.

thanks JB, awesome resource - one suggestion for you, sign up for and implement google ads and get some revenue coming in, you would be surprised at the hits you could get with the kind of setup you have, fantastic. It would have saved me $30 in gas, not to mention the pointless stop at cabelas to buy more stuff I dont need.

The wind speed says 20 or so for yesterday afternoon, was easily steady 20-25 at the lake and gustier than that. That junker sailboat in the parking lot was howling.

Wow, JB love the weather site. Is this something that comes in a package deal, or did you set the station up yourself.

I have always been fascinated by weather and for christmas my good friend bought me a Davis Vantage Pro2 station which is a high-end amateur station and I use Weather Display Software to transfer the data to visible graphs and icons on the website. I am still working at getting it to display how I want, so I fool with the program a lot each day. The Hardware is wireless and sends a signal to a console in my office here at my home. A data logger transfers the data into my computer for the software to configure in several different formats. I send my data to several different agencies like the Weather Underground, NOAA, Citizen Weather Observers, and others, as well as my own website. I am in the process of becoming a NOAA Weather Spotter. Its fun and very interesting. After a lot of study, I knew the components I wanted and put it all together myself. I am still learning. I am really glad so many here like the info because that definitely make all the hours seem worth it. Thanks to all who have shown the appreciation!
