I caught this fish and was wondering if its a Green Sunfish. Anyone know for sure? I pulled it out of the jordan river and didn't know they were in there.

Definitely a green sunfish. Anything that is in Utah Lake will also be in the Jordan. There are alot of green sunfish in Utah Lake.

Yep, green sunfish. I've caught one just like it in Utah Lake before, as well as in Deer Creek Reservoir.

There are also lots of bluegill in there.

That's about the prettiest green sunfish I've seen. Its in spawning colors.

Yes, willard has TONS of green sunfish. Used to mess with them as a kid. Try the south marina.

[Smile]Hey Fin-S-fish thanks for the information. A friend and I were in the boat a couple of years ago fishing along the north dike when we started catching a bunch of them. We were casting small crappie jigs right up in the rocks and getting them, that was great for us because we were'nt having any luck catching anything else that day.
I have caught a ton of bluegills over the years but these had the same color as the ones in this post. The only difference was they had a body shape similar to a perch. their heads were a little more pointed compaired to the normal bluegill. Thanks again and good luck fishing [Image: fish-on.gif]

And also their mouths are waaaaaay bigger than a bluegills. They don't eat plankton as much like bluegills but their diet is more like a smallmouth's. Crayfish.

I used to catch the crap out of those things back in texas in a small creek with moving water - we always called them rock bass (although I now know that there is a real rock bass), they were fun to catch, but pretty much anything is isnt it? Cool fish.

We used to catch them out of the little bear river as a kid. The first time I caught one I took it home and put it in my fish tank. It was a cool fish. I had it until my brother "fished" in my bedroom and cooked it and the other game fish I had in there. [crazy]
