Last month, while ice fishing at Piute, my beloved water-proof, shock-proof phone was either stolen or lost. I was pretty sure that I didn't take it out of the car and my buddy forgot to lock the drivers side door when he went back to the car, so I was sure that someone stole it. We even walked around the car and the boat ramp looking for it. I was so positive that I did not have it out on the ice. The phones are going for $200-300 on-line as they are awesome phones and they stopped making them.

Anyways, on Saturday, I get a call from the Verizon store in St. George and they tell me that a man brought in my phone and that he found it at Piute. This was at least 6 weeks ago that I lost it. I couldn't believe it. I should get it today in the mail.

So I want to send out a huge thanks to the dude that turned it in. I will never know if it was stolen and then discarded but likely I somehow left it there. No matter, I get it back today and hope it works. It is water proof (I made a call with it under water) so it should be fine.

This just made my weekend and thought I would share.

The salesman at Verizon was adament that the phone could make calls underwater. So while in the warranty period I tried it. Put it a foot under water at Strawberry and made a call. It wouldn't connect until it was just under the water but the phone worked for a few more months just fine until it was lost at Piute.

I have killed way too many phones to water while fishing so my wife made me get this waterproof / shockproof phone. I am pumped to get it back. Much better than my wife's old pink phone!?[Tongue]

Too cool! Two posts that were brought about by people with real class in one week. Ya gotta love it.

Im guessing you were absent-mindedly buried your phone in the ice at piute and left it there?

I lose about 1 phone every other year to water.. I always try and remember to either leave it in the car.. or put it in a baggie..

So, what is this phone? I wanna look into getting one too. Who makes it?

Thanks-

They are th g-zone phones by casio. The phones are just "water resistent" but the salesman gauranteed that you could make a call under water. So I wanted to test it while still in my 12 month warranty period.

They are great - a little bulky but I am so sick of ruining phones to water damage.

I use pelican cases from REI for my camera, phone, ipod when out on the water. The cases are 100% water proof and shock proof plus they come in a variety of sizes. At work we have a pelican case just for the satelite phone.
