[#385000]Anyone been to Willard?[/#385000]

[cool][#0000ff]We have had a couple of "non-reports" on the board plus I have had a couple of PMs from guys who have given it an early shot.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Still lots of ice, and probably will be for a week or so. But, the ice is moving farther out from the north marina and you can take a boat all the way to the north dike. Water is still fairly clean since the wind is not stirring up mud yet. No major reports of great fishing. The everlovin' kitties are around and feeding...on worms and cut bait...but no reports of wipers or walleyes.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I am planning my first "floatilla" there on Saturday morning. Maybe I can take some paints and color some kitties if nothing else.[/#0000ff]

How long you gonna be out there?? What time you launching in the 36* water? Watch when you get up on plane you don't hit that hump out from the channel.[Tongue]

So, maybe I should start a new post, but I'm gonna ask it here...do you guys pay the $10 every time you go to Willard? Especially some of the guys that go in the winter. I drove by and noticed there was a camp host there. Seems silly to have to pay that much for what you get.? (or what you don't get) Is there a better location to access the water that you don't have to pay? Or...do most of you just get the annual state pass (which is how much)?

I have an annual pass so I dont really think about it, Willard was one of the main reasons I bought it.

[cool][#0000ff]I will probably launch about 7:30 and I usually have all the fun I can stand about noon. Gonna do the usual...drag minnows while tossing plastics and cranks. Started getting a few stray wipers by the end of March last year, but iceout is a bit later this year. Should be a kitty or two anyway. Don't have much optimism for the decimated walleye population.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I don't have to worry about humps and bumps. I have jet drive. A couple of breakfast burritos and I am good to go. I don't get up on plane much anyway. The water skiers and PWC folks complain about getting sprayed by my roostertail.[/#0000ff]

The pass is the way to go if you are planning on launching from either of the marinas. Not sure how much they are.

I know a few places to go without having to pay.... gimme a call. [cool]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Buy the pass. It’s one of the best bargains in the state. You can get it online at [/size][/font][url "https://secure.utah.gov/parkspass/permit.html"][font "Times New Roman"][#800080][size 3]https://secure.utah.gov/parkspass/permit.html[/size][/#800080][/font][/url][font "Times New Roman"][size 3]. The cost is $75 and gets you into any state park launch for free. It also gets you $2 off camping fees. If you happen to be 62 or older, the cost is $35.[/size][/font]

Plus there's a $5 off coupon on page 18 of this year's proclamation

I would NEVER chance a ticket for not paying.[angelic] I havw had my parks pass for 3 years now and it is a bargain especially if you like east canyon and wilard. I get about 3 times my moneys worth every year.[Wink]

I might just show up and say hi.[Wink]

Buy the pass it rocks. Mine easily paid for itself last year.
[signature]
Yeah, I guess the park pass is the way to go. Thanks everybody for the feedback. So have you been by East Canyon lately? What are the conditions if you have been?
[signature]
Haven't been since 1/5 and not sure what the ice is like.[Wink]

You're going to Willard then tomorrow? I was going to, but I got skunked there today.[unsure] I haven't fished Willard much though, maybe you need to teach me the ways.[Wink] Heard anything on Hyrum, Newton, or "Porky"pine? Ice/fishing reports? Thinking of heading up that way. Throw in the waders, ice gear, and the spinning rod and see what happens. Maybe the shotgun and a box of skeet too.[cool]
[signature]
No, i won't make it toay. Going back up on the weber.[Wink] Hyrum had a guy on it by the dam yesterday but it looks bad. No info on the others.[cool]
