Humming Bird side scan model 797 SI and up. If you go to Cabelas the saleperson in boating equipment will explain it all.

Thanks!
Man I went to Cabelas website and seen that wow some technology there!
Surprised they don't make fish finders with cable tv!
Or that show the fish skeletons underwater for that matter!
Well thats a bit too expensive for me the Hummingbird 797 side view.
It looks appealing though.
Side imaging? Sorry but it looks stupid at any lake you can tell what structure is off to the sides of boats by looking at the shore.
Just a good 'ol fish finder works for me.

I'd also love to have the top-of-the-line Huminbird fish finder, but unless Ed McMahon shows up on my doorstep it isn't likely to happen. You get what you pay for. Buy as much fishfinder as you can afford. Lowrance and several others make fine fish finders.

garmin 140, cheapo that will tell you what is underneath the boat and about $100 - eagle 320, humminbird 565, cudas are decent too - all under $200 and worth buying.

It's all about power and screen resolution. Buy the absolute highest you can afford. If your can double the resolution for $20 more, do it.

Not always, we have been fishing the river below Hoover Dam for 30+ years and we saw alot of structure that we did not know or graph before. Remember fish scatter when a boat approaches, sometimes you will not graph any fish and there right off the side out of view.

Check this site out, they have good rankings and comparisons:

I'm strongly leaning to get a Matrix 47 3D as soon as the ice comes off.
