Went out for a nice Sunday drive with the inlaws to check out the local waters. Devils Creek a little open on the edges but still fishable. Deep Creek the same mabey a little more open but with a good plank I think you would be fine. Weston on the north end has a lot of water but down by the dam it is solid right up to the bank with a few people fishing there. Johnson,Lamont and Glendale about the same conditon as the others. Foster has some open water on the south west end . Oneida was solid right up to the bank I walked from the boat ramp out 50 yards or so no slush. The river down below looked nice and clear there were a few people fishing!! Cant wait for Ice off!!!!! M.H.

MH,
Thanks for the ice condition report. I love fishing those Preston Area lakes (see Idaho Board). The wife and I also did a little road trip but here in Utah. I posted the conditions of Pineview, East Canyon, Echo and Rockport which are all still frozen over. Cant wait for some open water on ALL these lakes. You fish Twin Lakes, Glendale, Johnson.......the Preston Area lakes that often? Maybe one time we can meet up and fishem'!!! Anyhow, thanks again for the "heads-up"!!!

I have only fished Oneida a hand full of times the last couple years all from the bank and did.....so so for walleye. Biggest one was 22", all were caught fishing off the damn in the rocks. Never have put my boat in there. I know that place is just LOADED with BIG carp. Honestly they need to go in there and kill the lake and start over!!! The Narrows below the damn are excellent fishing year round. I have caught BIG Browns, rainbows, cutt's, walleye, SMB, and the occasional carp or sucker!!! The Preston Area lakes are great fishing for LMB. Lamont has/had some huge Tiger Muskie in there too, dont know if the low water killed them off or not.

It would not be possible to kill Oneida. Sure wish it could be done but it can't be.

Yeah I know, I was just saying....But it would be nice if we could figure out a way to get rid of all them damn carp though. That is a beautiful place to fish, although not to easy to get to with road conditions (sometimes). Kind of sucks when you are fishing the bank and all you hear is huge splashes but all they are is BIG carp instead of BIG Browns!!! If we got rid of 95% of the carp, managed the lake better and paved the road in the Narrows then I think we would be in business!!!

Getting a handle on the carp would be good- no paved road though.
I think the river would go down hill quickly.
