Does anyone know whether Carey Lake has iced out yet? Details on accessibility (for tubes or small boats) would be helpful also.

I also would like to know about the ice and if it's flooded this spring like last year. It is totally accessible to float tubes and toons when the ice is off and is a blast[

I emailed they IDF&G and they said much of the ice has left, but it is low since the runoff hasn't started. They said a person could get a small boat in so toon and float tubes should be good to go[

I drove through Carey today. From what I could see from the road, only about 1/3 was open water. Just FYI.

Thankyou fro the report of actually seeing water there. If you recall did it look like it was still in the canal banks? wondering about the spring runoff.[crazy]

I saw water in the cattails by the road, if that's what you're wondering. I drive that route regular and I've been keeping my eye on the snow melt as I figure it will flood up over the road at some point.
I also noticed that there is still a couple of feet of snow on the ground through the Fairfield area. None of it seems to be melting too quick as I'm not seeing large areas of water by the roads or in the fields.
I won't be going through there again until the weekend of the 18th. I'll try to post something up about the water again then.

So has anyone got an update on Carey Lake?

Drove by there yesterday. Ice is completely off--in the canals too. There is water near the road and the melt-off is far from over in the mountains above.
