So... I did a search (granted, only went back one year), and it seems there's no real posts about pets. Now, this might be a girly thing of me to do, wanting to talk about cute cuddly things. But think of it as a masculine way ... showin' off your huntin' dawgs! *nods sagely* LOL
Here's mine.
Paizly. Rescued as a feral kitten, when I noticed her walking oddly and trailing along as the rest of the litter went down the yard with mommy-cat. When I picked her up, I realized her back legs were stubs (probably umbilical cord got wrapped around the back end, cuz her tail is short too), and figured she wouldn't make it on her own very long like that. She's now 6 years old.
Lilly. I'm doing the good-hearted thing of fostering shelter cats!
Aquarium. Freshwater - Nothing fancy. I downsized to a few Mollies, Guppies, Zebra Danios, Ottos and an albino bushy-nose Pleco. And a gold/yellow Apple Snail. Then I just found a pest snail this morning *sigh*
And I guess if you count the squirrel in the yard. It must have rabies, because it's not really afraid of us!

Our rescued pet is a foot long hot dog that loves to fish!! Only down about her is she barks at every bird and every boat. But she is one our family now and is great. If I could teach her to get beer out of the cooler!!! LMAO!! M.H.

I take my dogs fishing with me 90% of the time. Lucy is the border collie and Molly is half lab half bull terrier. Molly trusts no strangers while Lucy trusts everyone. They both will put the chase on any mountain lion we encounter in the remote canyons we always seem to end up in stalking trout. Mostly they just love the freedom of spending the day out fishing in the middle of nowhere.

I have 3 dogs that I am gonna try and take with us fishing on the new boat this summer. It's only a 14 footer so it's gonna be a bit cozy.
I have a yellow lab named Jessie, a mini dachsund named Matilda (Mattie) and a mini schnauzer puppy named Murphy,They love to camp so they will probably eat a day on the boat up.
My question to you Riverdog, is how in the hell do you take your lab to a stream and keep him out of the water. I am on my 4th lab in 30 years and I cannot yet convince one that when I am fishing, they need to lay down and watch.
Jessie is the worst of the bunch. He's well trained and smart a can be. I can work him to 3 dummies and pick the sequence I want him to retrieve them in. But when he gets anywhere near water, his brains fall out completely. One of the funniest things I have ever seen was last summer at Willard Bay. We had just arrived and my 18 year old and I were unloading the canoe. My 13 year old had him on a leash. They both weigh about 85 pounds, but the dog is strong. My son started walking Jessie down to the beach, the dog literally yanked the boy down on the ground and dragged him the last 25 feet through the gravel and into the water. His brother and I were both laughing so hard we couldn't even help. He finally dropped the leash after he was out about waist deep in the water.

fishned, I admit I lose a few holes with fish to the dogs. My previous Lab mix was so damn smart that she did exactly what she was told and knew not to swim in front of me when I was fishing. Molly is almost 3 and absolutely loves to go swimming and fishing. She's average intelligent but will do as told so I remind her to stay out of the water in front of me. My dogs are very active running and playing and don't just sit and watch me. The border collie only swims when she needs to and isn't constantly swimming like Molly. I think the key is that I usually take them to remote places where they do have the freedom to run around without bothering other people. I certainly don't know how to keep a lab out of the water.

I've got a Choco Lab named Tobler who loves Ice Fishing! Once we get out there she'll just walk between holes and stare down into the water waiting for the fish. Everytime I land I fish she wants to do everything she can to make sure it does not get back in that hole! haha I have to hold her back when i'm going to release a fish! I take her with me pretty much everytime for the last 6 years.
