[#808000]I hate the fact that it costs me $120 to fill up my Diesel truck. I also hate the fact that it costs me $100 a week just to commute to work every week in a car that gets 35 miles per gallon. It seems easy to blame the "Big Oil" companies, and when I fill up my vehicles I catch myself cussin them as well. But once I sit down and think about how America's Capitolism and Public Traded companies work, I quickly come back to the realization that I would not want it any other way.[/#808000]

It also shows how you could be affected in other ways if things were different with Big Oil.[/#808000]

Wyobraz,

I don't know who you are but I like your way of thinking.

I believe in capitolism, not socialism. The greatest thing about our
country is freedom of choice.

40 billion dollars last quarter profit. Does that mean our consumption is the reason profits are up, or the fact that we pay 4.00 for something that cost 1.50 to manufacture, or both?

[#808000]Hillary was wrong. They did not make 40 billion last quarter.[/#808000]

Your right that was their 2006 profits. 39.6 billion. Natural gas cut into the profits. (down 4%)

Great Video, thanks for sharing!

You ever looked into biodiesel? My brother makes biodiesel for .87 per gallon. It's a fair amount of work, but you are not controlled by oil any more. You become independent..kind of a cool feeling to make your own fuel. No need to modify your truck.. would run fine on b100. You will have to find a fairly consistent supply of oil.. but can not be too tough to come by. My truck ran better and quieter on biodiesel. Than on the Diesel fuel..

He has lots of info on his site..

I hear you on both issues. The money to pay for future energy sources has to come from somewhere.

What brand Diesel engine do you have? What is the fuel mileage you get on it? I am thinking of buying a new truck, it will definitly be a Ford. I can't decide on the engine though. I read that in 2009, they will be putting a 4.4L Turbodiesel V8 in the F-150. That thing could get 26-28 mpg, with good power. Also, do you know the fuel mileages on the 6.8L Triton V10?

[#808000]I have a 2003 Ford 7.3L Powerstroke, and it gets 20MPG. I have done some modifications so it would get 20MPG, such as an Edge Products Chip, Cold Air Intake, and 4" exhaust. I do not know much about any gas engines offered in trucks. I have a diesel because of the amount of pulling I do. Even at $4 a gallon it is still worth the extra price to have the power available when needed.[/#808000]

[#808000]Waljustia, thanks for the link on biodiesel it was very interesting. I had actually looked into biodiesel several years ago, but I found that living in Gods country here in small town Wyoming, I do not have any source for used oil.[/#808000]
