Well, Michael, I guess we all have those kind of days. We had an amazing gust of wind blow us like a leaf on a pond, right into the shallows by the island in the Snake arm. My wife hung up her lead core line, and before we could get back to rev up the trolling motor, she got "lined" and when it snapped it took half of my favorite Fenwick rod that had been specially made for me back in the 70's. Top it off with few fish and cold, biting winds, well, we decided to make an early exit. Couldn't find the trout or perch, but there are tons of crappie everywhere. They are small, however. Guess I'll wait for better perch fishing and warmer days! Hope I got all the problems out of the way early! Mike

We were fishing the Snake Arm yesterday as well. We landed 15 feet of sturgeon (2 fish) but it was tough fishing for them. We caught several nice smallies, but again it was tough. The big crasppie are few and far between, but they are nice. My bro-in-law got one on a Senko fished wacky worm style that was 12" or so ( yep a Crappie). The other crappies we got were 5 inches.
We need another week of nice weather with light winds to turn it on. Of course, then runoff will start and shut down the Snake Arm all togheter till late May.
It is what it is, I'll keep fishing and be glad for the days we get a few.
Kodiak, what does your boat look like?

Hi Mojo,
We have a 16' blue Hewescraft Sportsman. Congrats on your sturgeon. Yes, C.J. definitely needs a spell of warm weather. But that shouldn't be an excuse for the trout we were aiming for. Oh, well, the main reason for the trip was to make sure the boat was running well before we head up to Coeur d'Alene for chinook, and to test our Sidewinder planers. They are the on-line type, and they work great. They are considered necesarry this time of year at Coeur d'Alene since the chinook are in the top 25' of water, and spook easily . This $15 sideplaner is certainly cheaper than the cable types, and the guides at CDA are using them with success. Mike

We were fishing up by Cove Arm yesterday. I have a 22' Alumaweld V-Sled (open sled). It's kinda hard to miss.
My daughter and I hit it again this afternoon. Managed a couple of really nice bass up the lake, and 2 small bluegills by the dike at Cove Arm.
