I will be down in Salt Lake this week for school and want to try my luck at Utah Lake since everything up here is still frozen. My question is can you do any good bank fishing there and if so where would be a good place to try. My dilemma is whether or not to bring my boat down. I went out yesterday and realized forgot to register it over the winter[crazy]. No problem of course but most of my fishing will be in the evening and I will be driving back to Logan at night and don't know if it's worth the hassle[unsure]. Anyways, any help as always will be appreciated.

I've heard of some success bank fishing at American Fork Boat Harbor for white bass and Walleye, but have not been there to try it out myself.

Most of the recent board reports give an impression that the walleye are mainly in spawn mode, making for hard and slow fishing. If you want good suggestion and advice, look at the post Utah Lake Walley, by big fish. TubeDude has a good reply with information I am sure you will want to read.

Hey buddy, let me know when you want to try Hyrum or Newton again! Ice should be off now right?

[cool][#0000ff]Not likely to be a good week for fishing anywhere on Utah Lake. A series of storms is going to keep the water cold and muddy. Not good for any species. Especially not good for boating...or bank fishing.[/#0000ff]

[black][size 3]Pat, On this one, I'll have to offer a counter-point and prediction on this. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]The bank fishing on Utah lake could be fantastic this week ... In that - any person who undertakes such an activity, would most likely be all alone and should have the whole bank to themselves. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]However, due to the potential conditions, the catching could be kind of sketchy - meaning, it might not make much difference what kind of offering you present, or, whether you even have a line in the water, or not. [/size][/black]
[black][size 3][/size][/black]
[black][size 3]Nonetheless, If one is inclined to believe the forcast oracles, inclimate weather gear might be appropriate for such an outing, as would the company of a good outdoorsy kind of dog or two that don't care if the water is cold or muddy.[/size][/black]

[cool][#0000ff]No disagreement on the first point. FISHING IS ALWAYS GOOD, EVEN IF THE CATCHIN' AIN'T. And, if you are into the esoterics of solitary angling, you should not have a lot of distracting company.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As far as fishing with wet smelly dogs...well, I can think of better companions.[/#0000ff]

What bank fishing? Wells Fargo or Chase, or Zions?

I prefer Chase over Wells Fargo.[Wink]

Well from the way things sound I might as well not waste my time doing either. I guess if I have to I can just trade fishing during the week for a full day on saturday. Hyrum is starting to sound pretty good.

Sounds like a great plan. If not this weekend maybe we could set something up for next week.
