Topeka to host 25th annual event to overview past progress, future challenges
A quarter-century of progress and challenges for the future will be the focus of the 25th annual Water and the Future of Kansas Conference Tuesday, March 25, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Topeka.
The conference is a forum for state agency, university, and organization representatives who study, plan, regulate or have an interest in influencing water management decisions. However, everyone interested in water is encouraged to attend and learn more about issues affecting the state's water supply and quality.
A Kansas governors' panel will highlight this year's conference. Panelists include former governors Mike Hayden, now secretary of the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and John Carlin, a visiting professor of political science at Kansas State University. Roger Pulwarty from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration will present the luncheon address, "Climate Change Impacts on Kansas and the Great Plains."
The early registration fee is $75. For more information or to register, go online to www.dce.k-state.edu/conf/waterfuture or phone the K-State Division of Continuing Education conference registration office at 785-532-5575. The conference is sponsored by the Kansas Water Resources Institute, the Kansas Center for Agricultural Resources and the Environment, K-State Research and Extension, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
