Full Version: SEVEN OHIO STATE PARKS RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE

COLUMBUS, OH - Seven Ohio State Parks received "Service Excellence" Awards for their work in 2007 during the annual park managers meeting on April 8. The awards are based on customer satisfaction surveys and are given annually to individual parks in recognition of outstanding facilities.
For the fourth consecutive year, Lake Milton State Park in Mahoning County was honored for its outstanding beach and hiking trails. Deer Creek State Park in Pickaway County was recognized for the fourth consecutive year for its outstanding golf course. The park's boating facilities also received recognition. Camping and getaway rental facilities at Harrison Lake State Park in Fulton County were also honored for excellence.
Others parks receiving Service Excellence Awards were: Malabar Farm State Park in Richland County; Mohican State Park in Ashland County; West Branch State Park in Portage County and Lake Hope State Park in Hocking County.
"We began the customer satisfaction survey program in 1992 and it has proved popular with our millions of visitors," said Dan West, chief of Ohio State Parks. "It's proved an accurate measure of how we're serving the public and howuser-friendly our facilities are."
On a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible score, the facilities and parks receiving the highest scores were:
"¢ Lake Milton State Park for its beach and trails. The beach was scored at 4.6 and the trails were scored at 4.7.
"¢ Mohican State Park for its resort lodge. The lodge received a 4.4 score.
"¢ Lake Hope State Park for its cottages. The cottages scored 4.4.
"¢ Deer Creek State Park for its 18-hole golf course, which earned a score of 4.7 from users. Deer Creek also won in the boating facility category with a 4.7 score.
"¢ Malabar Farm State Park for its environmentally "friendly" visitor center. The facility received a score of 4.8 from users.
"¢ West Branch State Park for its picnic areas. The park earned a score of 4.6 for these facilities.
"¢ Harrison Lake State Park was recognized for an outstanding campground and getaway rentals. The campground scored 4.6 with users, while the rentals scored 4.8.
More than 53 million visitors enjoyed the natural beauty and quality facilities of Ohio's state parks last year. Ohio's state park system is home to nine resort lodges, more than 500 cottages, six golf courses and 56 family campgrounds with more than 9,000 campsites.
