I made my first fishing trip in quite some time today. I let my son miss school and we went to East Canyon to see what's going on up there. There was about 40-50 yards of open water almost all the way around the lake. There is still alot of ice sheet floating around but they are thin and they won't last very long. Fishing sucked. We tried all kinds of jigs, spoons, spinners, even baits. I only saw a few master bait-ers catch fish. That only totalled 3 and they were all small. Saw some guys out on pontoons by Taylor Hollow. You could launch a boat now but you might have to dodge a few ice sheets. When we left at 1:30 the wind was blowing and the main chuncks were moving around again. I would guess that if we get any good wind the lake will be free by Sunday. Water was murky by TH with lots of junk, wood floating around. Water by the dam was a little clearer but still kinda cloudy. I don't know what happened to EC this year but the fishing for me has not been good this year, either before, during, or after the ice.
