Hit Willard yesterday with bwalker. Took out the ODC 1220 to the south west side (about 6:15 pm), and had quite a work out getting the toon up and over the rocks, not to mention the trolling motor and the battery and all the gear. Anyway we trolled just about 50 feet off shore for about an hour and a half and caught one wiper trolling the fly rod w/ floating line and a white wooly bugger with a wiggle fin. Had one other real good hit but could not hook it. We had 2 other lines out one w/ sinking line with a zonker and the other a spinning rod with a glass shad. No hits on either one of those. Water temp on the fish finder was 50 degrees. The wiper did not put up much of a fight, so I think it was a little cold, but once it warms up should be a lot of fun.

Well thanks for getting out there and posting your report. Too bad the catching wasn't better but this time of the year is really hit and miss. Were did you walk over the dike at? I don't know if you saw it at the S/W corner but there is a road there that can make walking up the dike easier when carrying stuff up to the top of the dike. There is also less rocks at that spot for getting down to the water. A few years back when the lake was a lot lower, Wiperslayer and I carried a 12 boat, motor and gear over the top there, it was the best place to go over at the time. Were there any other people fishing the area where you were?

No I did not know there was a better spot down there. We stopped about in the middle of the south side, and trolled up and down. Dang that sounds like it would be much easier, I will have to check it out next time. As for others fishing there were about 4 or 5 bank fisherman out there, did not look like they were having much success either.
