So I decided I would get up early (4:30) and try to get to Pineview early enough to get some fishing in before the storm came through. It didnt happen as planned. I got up and took off around 5:45, filled up at Maverik and tried to get some Nightcrawlers to no avail. I went to about a thousand places looking for worms and nobody had any. I finally went to the Chevron on 12th street, opened the fridge and was blown away from the smell. Now I know where the "fed's" hid Jimmy Hoffa's body. My lord!!![mad] Dug through the worm carcus' and finally found a carton with some semi-live ones. Went to pay and the lady didnt know how much they were, so instead of finding out she had me wait until she rang up everyone else (about 7 people). Why should I have to wait? Wasnt I there first? I dont understand!!! But now I do understand why these crazy people shoot up places like that, because of cashiers like that!!! Anyhow, I finally get up to the lake and am on the water around 7:30. Take off for Cemetery Point, stop off one of the points there, pull my new rod/reel combo out and notice that I must have slammed the handle to the reel in the rod locker and broke it off. So now I have to use my spare that has no line on it. Get it spooled up and finally have a lure in the water around 8:15, had a couple good hits with no hook-ups then my best friend the fu$@*&! W--- decided to makes its presence felt around 9. I said screw it and got off the water. Have too much stuff to do around the house anyway. Does this still count as a "skunk"? I was thinking more along the lines of a "Muskox"!!! By the way anyone want to buy about $4000 worth of tackle? I am going to try a different hobby like underwater basket weaving or maybe nitting!!![:p] Hope I have better luck Saturday!!!

I have so had trips like that, I can feel your pain! Sounds like the nelle is the spot for this weekend if I can get away.

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry. Don't feel a bit sorry for you. A "seasoned" angler attends to all the details the night before...bait, rods rigged, line on reels, etc.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Make yourself a checklist and make sure everything is taken care of in advance. Most GOOD fishermen I know do not leave things to "Murphy's Law".[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Seriously, I DO feel your pain. We fishermen have enough going against us without the rest of the world ganging up on us everytime we try to get out for some badly needed fishing.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Interesting thought...going "postal" in a convenience store. Maybe we should start calling them INconvenience stores. I been to a few.[/#0000ff]

im sure roy pond is teeming with blue gill just waiting for you. if it makes you feel any better i went down to horseshoe and dident even fish. the wind was blowing so hard, i made one cast straight out into the main body of the lake and my spinner made it to the shore behinde me over my left shoulder, and im not even kidding. so i said screw it and came home. so that means, since my spinner dident even hit the water i dident get skunked. now if you want to count land sharks thats fine, i dident even get a bite.

OMG Im rolling at work with that story, I have had days like that myself, it makes you really enjoy the ones where everything works out!
Dont let it get to you cause i have found that those days are the way it goes before you have an ultimate score so hang in there, all days cannot be great or you loose the thrill. and who knows maybe that is how god is going to make you deserve that record breaking tiger muskie that is waiting for you at pineview.
Never give up never surrender!!!!
P.S. if you decide not to take my advice then can you knit me a new comforter for my boat bed, king size ........LOL J/K.

OK, on a more possitive note (hopefully) How's the ice situation on Pineview?
Narrows empty? etc..
[signature]
Why didn't you just get the worms at the gas station right next to Pineview? No need to get up early to go to Pineview either, wait until the sun comes out and warms up the water.
Sorry about the crappy trip, Better luck next time.

TubeDude- I think you have to be "retired" to be a "seasoned" angler dont you? I am on duty 24/7 so when they say "hey take tomorrow off" the last thing on my mind is getting my stuff ready. I was off to bed and up early. Now when I retire, you bet your rear-end my stuff will be ready!!!
Hookjaw- Didnt even think about the gas station up that way. After visiting 7-8 of them the last thing on my mind was to drive all the way up there and have them be out of worms too. Would have topped the day off though!!!
The ice is completly off the lake by the way, even in the Narrows. One of the docks from the boat launch made its way down to the dam, maybe all the fish are hiding underneith it!!!

I am not that desperate to fish the Roy Pond. While a fun place to fish and get wasted out of your mind (since its down the street) I dont like the fact that when I flush my toilet that is where the.......stuff (the other "S" word) goes. Been there a couple times and noticed a few "Logs" surface like a submarine was coming up for air!!![:p] Maybe I was just hammered, who knows!!!

Glad to hear that I can keep you entertained while you are at work!!! You ever seen that movie "Falling Down" with Michael Douglass (I think thats his name)??? That is how I felt when I was in that Chevron. Picture this (if youve seen the movie) me grabbing that lady by the hair and saying "Look lady, do these worms in this carton look like the little picture on the fridge?" "No they dont, the worms on the fridge look happy, these ones look DEAD"!!! Now if that happened I would definatly be nitting your blanket while I am locked up in jail!!![:p]

LOL, I like that movie, I can relate sometimes. just trying to get you past the moment and into the looking back and laughing mood, it will be funny to you one of these days and hopefully soon when the skunk turns to the golden touch, Ill keep watching the news just incase you slide the other way on this and we hear of any incidents at chevron. [cool][#0000ff]Nope. "Seasoned" means experienced...not worn out. After your last (MIS)adventure, you are more experienced...more seasoned. If you are sharp enough to learn by your mistakes, you will not repeat (some) of those things again.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I got news for ya though. No matter how old I get and how smart I think I am, I still make my share of mistakes. We all do. So, let everybody take their potshots at ya' but maintain your ascendancy. None of them are perfect and you will get your chance to laugh back at them. Anybody who claims they never %$#& up will lie about other things too.[/#0000ff]

If it makes you feel any better, I've been fishing 4 times in the last couple months, and not caught a thing. Of course, it was at community ponds... but still! Other people got stuff, so I could've too
[signature]
Hearing people getting skunked doesnt make me feel better. The fishing Gods need to shine a light on everyone, every time out!!! HAHAHA To make my day "better" (worse) is the weather looks................pretty damn nice now, what gives??? Oh the icing on the cake is I had to come home from fishing by 2 pm today no matter what because of an appointment with the wife, now it is canceled so I could have still been out!!! Makes me want to go back to that Chevron and beat that woman with my broken rod/reel combo!!![mad][:p][

Yeah I know Wally World has good worms, that is usually where I get mine, but since I am waiting for my new boat cover to come in and the old one is torn I have to drive without a cove. This means I have my "kicker" motor sittin on the bottom, so long story short, I dont trust anyone and dont want my stuff stolen. As far as where to fish for the Tigers, obviously you didnt hear me when I said that I have been skunked 3 times in a row now, so how would I know where they are at??? HAHAHAHA[:p] Fish the sandy areas 3-8 ft of water around the brush (sticks).

[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]YOU: "Uhhhh...can you go a little slower?"[/#0000ff]

Dude that is funny! It could only have been worse if I was there. Imagine the boat not starting after all that. I bought new battries though and spent the dough to get the Optima blue top for the motor. Can't wait to get back 27 and a wake up.
