Because I have to be home by 3:00 PM Saturday, I was planning on getting my garden ready to plant; however, it now appears that it will be too muddy. Anyone, besides me, still have their ice fishing gear ready to go? If yes, and interested in hitting Strawberry on Saturday, and sharing gas expense, send me a PM.

Come on Kent, it's ok to let it go now.[:p]

I even fired the boat up this week and it started easily (which was a pleasant surprise). I could also be pursuaded to take it out Saturday. In my younger years I was also one of those who was always pushing the envelope (boat out on Deer Creek and Strawberry right after ice off, fishing Utah Lake from my boat in early April and on and on). I learned just like many have already posted up this year, no need to get in a super hurry for soft water fishing (which is often slow early), might as well continue enjoying ice fishing if the fish are still biting while one is walking on water.

Yeah, but there are alot of places popping right now without having to walk on sketchy ice. Like you said though, some people can't wait for soft water and i am one of them. I can only take so much ice and drilling holes, and staking the tent, and, and.

What makes me LOL is that often the ones who can't wait for ice fishing to end are the same ones who are making the posts in August saying that they can't wait for ice fishing to be here. As I have gotten older, I am learning to enjoy the moment more instead of always looking for what is next. On a different note, I am already working on my plans for my great love for soft water fishing -- sturgeon on The Snake River!

Speaking of sturgeon on the snake river, Did you see the pics on sportsmans wall of the UT guy with a rope around 2 big fish's tails and holding them out of the water at chest height? I called the ID DWR yesterday and they said they would be in touch. I also called on some people yesterday with fish overlimits locally.[

Have fun on he ice. If you plan a trip for sturgeon and need someone to share expenses let me know. I have always wanted to fish for them but don't have the proper gear.

No I didn't see the picture, but I would have turned them in in a heart beat. Nothing even remotely like that happens on my boat when we catch them.

I like what you said about 'enjoying the moment'.
Ain't that the truth! [

I was fishing a BASS tournament at the Washington Idaho border and my wife after the tournament wanted to try for one of the big ones, after about 30 min. of fighting it on a bass rod we broke it off but it was fun trying...

I look forward you to getting back there soon as well. I think those big old fish are some of the coolest looking fish I have ever seen. They have to be awsome to catch.

Have one taker and room for one more. Change in plans -- we will likely be fishing Huntington Reservoir.
