Q. I see that the Upland game brochure now contains information on turkeys; does this mean it is now required that hunters wear 36 inches of hunter orange while turkey hunting as well as upland game birds? Can you please clarify this for me?

A. Turkeys are not considered upland game birds, and thus the hunter orange rule does not apply. But all upland game hunters and upland game bird hunters are required to wear visible hunter orange - minimum size 36 square inches - above the waist during pheasant season when hunting on Idaho Fish and Game wildlife management areas where pheasants are stocked. A hunter orange hat meets this requirement.
