Full Version: Minnesota DNR Seeks Comments on Lake Management Plans in the Tower Area

Tower Area Fisheries staff has drafted revised individual lake management plans for 25 lakes in the region. The plans are part of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) annual look at individual fisheries lake management plans for several lakes in each management area. Lake management plans describe the past, present, and future conditions of the lake. The plans identify specific management activities planned for that lake in the next five to 15 years.

The Tower draft plan for the following 25 lakes is now available for public comment:

Armstrong, Bass (south of Biwabik), Birch (near Babbitt), Blueberry, Embarrass, Everett, Fall, Found, James (Jammer), Johnson, Knife, Little Knife, Maude, Nels, North Twin (South of Aurora), One Pine, Ottertrack (Cypress), Pfeiffer, Sabin, Slim, Stuart, Trout, Twin (near Burntside), Whitewater, Wynne.

These plans can be reviewed at the DNR Area Fisheries office, 650 Hwy 169, Tower, during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday).

Request copies of the plan by calling (218) 753-2580, ext. 221, or by sending an e-mail to dena.weber@dnr.state.mn.us. People may also stop in or call (218) 753-2580, ext. 222, to discuss the plans with fisheries staff.

Comments are due to the Tower Area Fisheries office in by March 25, and may be sent by mail or e-mail.
