Alright, the scouts in our area over the years had been able to amass a large amount of camping gear, supplies, etc that we kept in an enclosed trailer that they were also able to buy. Recently that trailer was stolen, and there really isn't any hope to recover any of the supplies. Including the trailer we estimate that there was well over 6 grand of property stolen. Yeah, I'd like to get a hold of the scum bags myself!

Because of very generous people in our area we have obtained a lot of donated supplies and also cash donations that will allow us to replace most of the gear that was in the trailer for our scouts. I have been given the assignment of finding a canvass spring bar (or pop up...whatever it is called) tent. We had two 6-man of these in the trailer, and we are hoping to replace at least one of them with an 8-man if possible.

My question is this: Does anyone know where a guy could get a hold of one of these at a reasonable price? I've never shopped for one of these before, so I don't even know what reasonable is. Thought I'd put this out there to you guys for any advice you could give me. Thanks.

My neighbor has a very nice wall tent, i think it is 10'x12 or 14'. He wants like $300 for it. Excellent shape and easy to set up. If you are interested, pm me.[cool]

Personally I hate springbar style tents (too heavy and bulky) but another leader just purchased one for my scout troop from a company called Kodiak I think. He told me they were about $600 and I think 8'. I don't know if this will help.

Kirkhams has spring -bar tents. Any size you want. Our scouts pick one up for about $450 for a 6-man tent (three years ago)

Nope. The 10 x 10 nicer model is like $390. SW and Rec Outlet have em. Although it and the Springbar spec-out the same, the Springbar material seemed slightly heavier. However, total wgt is less than Kodiak if I recall.

Kodiak had nicer internal features though, and that's what I bought. And the Kodiak was cheaper. And its carry bag is way functional.

No need to guess though. Spec's for both can be found online...
