I don't fly fish but I can give you some tips that may provide well for you.

Sometimes I use a jig or spinner and tie on a piece of flourocarbon leader, say 12-18 inches. At the end of that, I tie on a fly. The Guys up at the Lodge or down by the river turn-off can tell you which flies are good right now. Most of the time they hit the fly. It can be better than using just flies, jigs, or spinners alone.

This technique can work good on the Gorge itself, too. You can add a weight and drag this combo on the bottom. Just make sure you use floating jig heads so you do not snag and lose lures.

Good luck to ya'.

Have beatis nymphs. BWO's are probably done, but you may get lucky and get a good hatch. I would have WD-40's, micro scuds, and zebra midges as well. Throwing streamers may be good too. I haven't fished it this time of year in about 4 years. But being a tailwater, the Green always fishes good.

Look at the aquative life around you because you will do well with midge patterns dry and nymph, BWOs (this time of year) and micro scuds (grey, green, red.) It just depends on what is going on where you are at. I'm excited for cicadas (sp?) coming up here. There is a once every 17 year mondo cicada that I wish was happening this year but normal will do to.

I can't say for sure, but I think the 17 year cycle of the cicada had to be in 2003. I have never in my life seen so many of those bugs as that year. Good thing was we were on a 3 day float trip during prime cicada time.........AMAZING!
