So I got home from work about an hour before my wife so I grabbed my rod and bolted to the Jordan behind my house to try and squeeze a few casts in before she got home. I brought my bow and shot a couple carp for some bait. They are not quite to the "rolling over each other" stage of the spawn but I could still see a few cruising the shallows. After preparing the carp for catfood, I soaked a good sized chunk on a #2 circle hook with a sliding sinker in the shallows near the reeds and after about fifteen minutes and a few nibs here and there, my pole doubled over and the line went singing out. It was a fun fight and I played the big guy for a bit. It was a struggle to keep him out of the brush, but I banked him eventually. He ended up being around 27" and was probably 6 to 7 lbs. (forgot my scale in my rush to beat my wife home). I took a few pics and released him. Pulled a few decent mudders in before I had to split. Not a bad day, considering my time crunch. But you gotta squeeze it in when you can, eh?
