Full Version: Best fishing scale?

I need to upgrade my fishing scale. It's an older spring loaded system. I checked it with some weights at home and unless it was over five pounds it didn't register close at all. Even then it errored on the light side (not good for fisherman). What do you guys prefer? I've seen the lip and grip spring type, and the digital. What's more accurate? I don't want something too cheap, but I'd rather be buying rapalas than $80 scales at the same time. Thanks for your input.

Rapalas, digital.

I also use the digital rapala scale and have no complaints with it.

Check customer reviews on Cabelas website, and for the money, Rapala's digital had the best. Pickin one up today. Thanks!

Heck, I would just stay with the one you have now. If it won't register fish under 5 lbs. , that is all good. It will just make you catch ones over 5 lbs.[Wink][laugh].

The only recommendation I have for scales is to look hard and find one made in the USA. Preferrably, and old-type with good American Made materials would be best. I have no experience with the digital ones and am skeptical of their durabilty and performance, especially when knowing they are made of poor materials on mass-producing machines-which eqauls no quality.

I hope all that helps.

Mine is a Digital Saltar it will weigh up to 50 lbs (like I'd ever need that much) but it is a little pricey.
