Looking to take the new boat along with my wife and two youngest kids. Any suggestions on which way to go from lindon boat harbor to catch some catfish. I'm not to familiar with the lake and any dirrection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Lonnie

Lonnie,

Go north and get in as close to the dump as you can and use spinners and small jigs and your kids will have a blast catching white bass and you can catch pleanty of kitties.

Like fish fanatic said. Just north of Lindon is where Battle Creek comes in. There's a buoy a couple of hundred yards north of the dike by an island of reeds. That is a good spot to anchor and fish. It gets very shallow between there and the shoreline, even though it's quite a ways. The fish and game had their nets out right in that spot on Thursday. I couldn't tell what other kind of fish they had, but they threw back hundreds of white bass. I usually do very well there for catfish. Also, catfishing has been good inside of Lindon. Use shrimp if you don't have any carp.

[cool][#0000ff]It is usually good kitty catchin' all the way along the reedy shoreline from Lindon to the Jordan River. Some spots are better than others. On any given day you might have to move a couple of times to find the fish. Some days they will be out in deeper water, but right now and for at least the next couple of months you will do best fishing close to the reeds and brush...with or without bobbers.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Don't overlook the area to the south. I catch my biggest cats every year in between the Lindon dikes and the bubble up. And, there are plenty of good kitties all the way to Provo Boat Harbor.[/#0000ff]

Bassrods gave me a tip I will pass along from experience last week with my dad. Bassrods told me to watch the wind because of bigwaves. Well i was a beautiful morning and we put in a pelican point and cruised across to Lindon Harbor. Water was calm and nice. About 1 hour of fishing in the harbor we could see the waves starting to have whitecaps. Well we took off across in a straight line for pelican point and before we got to the middle we had 4 foot waves or bigger. I was turning with the waves and surfing down them with my motor to stay ahead of them.. We could not got in a straight line because the waves were too big. We ended up about 700 yards south of pelican point and then i had to go head on into the waves to get to the boat launch. The point of my 16ft Nitro was point up most of the way slapping the big waves. We made it but I dont ever want to do that again. Too many close calls with big waves. So be very careful when the wind comes up. Pay attention and get back before it is too late to be safe.

We learned that lesson back when I was a kid and my dad bought the family a boat. took it out for the first time and the same thing happened. Now my dad hates even thinking about going out on Utah Lake. Another problem is that if the waves are big enough and you are in a shallow spot, you can hit bottom when you are in the trough, my brother, on search and rescue, has had to go out and help sail boaters that hit bottom with the keel of their boats even in the deepest parts of the lake. The good news is that if you do get caught out on the lake, you can always walk back to shore on the backs of all the carp.
