I mentioned my mishaps that occurred while at the Berry Saturday with the motor kissing it and the clear face plate on my sonar broken. I was thinking big bucks to replace. Well it was in that I upgraded to the Max 40, but I hear such great things on this motor and much more adjustable then the Enduras.
Now, the Sonar. It is an OLD model Hummingbird TX300, but I loved that thing. Nice and simple. It still works but the chance of water getting in is an issue. I thought about the water proof tape, but it ends up yellowing or gets scratched easy, etc. SO, I pulled it apart, and used a putty knife to get the old screen out. Sanded down all the old glue with the trusty dremel tool, and headed to Lowes for some Lexan (because Lexan is stronger and doesn't scratch as easy) Found a piece for $3.00, and had the gal cut me a couple of squares out of the sheet the size I needed. It is a little thicker than the original, but it doesn't matter. I put a nice bead of Plyo bond around it, stuck the plastic in and ran another bead around the whole thing.
GOOD AS NEW< for $3. and a little time....WAHOO!
