I have noticed several comments regarding warm-water species being caught to the west of Pokey but not any near here. Does anyone no a place where a transplanted southern boy could go and catch "bream" and largemouth? I don't mind driving an hour or a little more but with gas prices as they are, it will take a very good fishery and an overnight trip to go much farther.

I just got that off of Preston's website. It's a decent place to take your family out, go and camp and have some fun.
For those warmer water species, as far as I know, you're going to have to drive south...
I haven't been there for years, so somebody is going to have to shed more light onto it.

Thanks!
We will look into it soon. We are making a trip back to Florida next week and hope to get into some spawning largemouth and possibly venture into the Gulf with some old friends.

I am going to start fishin Twin Lakes, Condie, Glendale, and Johnson in about three weeks. I think the water temps are still too cold as of now.
Have fun in Florida. My parents live in West Palm Beach. I may be heading back there in Oct.

Twin is very cold and low . It will get better as the water comes up in temp and depth .

Greetings from a southern gal!!! I'm originally from Oklahoma, been here for 10 years, and still can't get people to believe that I'm from Southern Idaho!
We fished Glendale and Condie in the last few weeks from our tubes and it's still really slow. Northing at Condie and caught one little guy in Glendale.. Hubby was actually fishing for trout and caught the little guy with two salmon eggs. Hacked me off, cause I had thrown everything but the tackle box itself at the critters!
Good Luck!
