It is kicked off with the Early Opener Trout Derby on the first Saturday in March. Our steams and lakes are stocked regulary by the California Department of Fish and Game with Rainbow and Brown Trout.[/#008000]

[#008000]Try these Fishing Spots[/#008000]
[#008000]Independence Creek: Turn west on Market St. Good fishing from Independence Campground up above Seven Pines Village.
Symmes Creek: Turn west on Market Street in Independence, turn left on Foothill Rd., follow the road to Symmes Creek Campground. Good fishing at the campground.
Sheperd Creek: Turn east 10 miles north of Lone Pine. Fish the sand trap where the road meets the creek. Not open at early opener.
George Creek: About 8 miles north of Lone Pine, cross over the Los Angeles Aqueduct, turn left at the first dirt road. Fishing is good at the sand trap.
Whitney Portal Pond: Turn west at the stoplight in Lone Pine, drive 13 miles up the grade. Fishing is good at the pond and along the creek in the campground.
Lone Pine Creek: Turn west at the stoplight in Lone Pine, fish the creek starting at the mouth of the canyon.
Lone Pine Sand Trap: Turn west at the stoplight, turn left at the first dirt road after you cross over the Los Angeles Aqueduct.
Tuttle Creek: Turn west at the stoplight, drive 3 miles to Horseshoe Meadow Road turn left. Turn right at Tuttle Creek Campground sign. Fishing is good at the campground.
Diaz Lake: Located on the west side of highway 395, 3 miles south of Lone Pine. Opened year around.
Cottonwood Creek: Turn west at the Cottonwood Power House Turnoff about 10 miles south of Lone Pine. Keep to the left as you cross the Los Angeles Aqueduct. The best fishing is from the campgrounds at the power house intake to the end of the road.[/#008000]

[#008000]Cottonwood Lakes Special Regulations.
It is catch and release at Cottonwood Lakes 1, 2, 3, and 4. All other lakes in the Cottonwood Lakes Basin are restricted to artificial lures or flies with barbless hooks, limit 5. Season is July 1 - October 31st. [/#008000]

I would not think it would take that long for him and his cleanup crew to clean up a minor mess like that one.. LOL>.

I'm still around. It's just a matter of getting lot's of use from all my other State fishing licenses.[cool]

As you might have read I enjoyed my trip to Bishop last week. The only bad part was that I had to refill the petro tank today which cost me @#@@;** [shocked] $79.00. So much for not wanting to drill off our coasts anywhere. [mad][/size][/#008000][/font]
