The weather was great but the trout weren't biting. If they were, it was hardly noticable and a nibble less than a small perch would make. Hard to notice in the wind and you had to set the hook in order to catch one.

The ice just melted off the lower end of the lake last Wednesday. My largest was a 16" 1.78 lbs caught on the north end. I had to cast out past the perch with lots of weight.

The perch action was hot. The kids caught a ton of perch near the shore down by the Blue Heron boat launch. Largest one was 12" and weighed 13 ounces. A lot of 10" fatties.

There were a lot less fisherman this year than years past because of the date change caused by ice. Largest fish that won the $500 prize was only 3.33 lbs. 6th place was 1.96lbs! Pretty small fish compared to years past.

My dad and I fished Cascade on Saturday. We didn't know about the tournament until late in the day.

We fished by the dam for a couple of hours and caught about three perch, and we also fished south of the golf course and came away with one trout.... about 12 inches. People around us on the bank didn't appear to be catching much... somebody would land a trout every now and then. And I'd watch the trollers go by and didn't see any of them catch anything in view.
