Bass fisher from the south east and I wanted to know what the usual hot lures, and colors are for bass and crappi in Pineview, Willard and Manteua Bay, or how ever you spell it. If you have any hints I would appreciate it. Just looking for a place to start.
I also need to find a place to take the kids, where the fishing is quick and easy on worms.
I have a boat, and I release all the fish I catch, unless I get that once in a lifetime fish.

Welcome to the board. There is a wealth of knowledge here. I prefer bass fishing myself and won't give away everything but the usual stuff works out here. Stickbaits, smaller swimbaits, craw patterns-most Utah waters that have bass have crawdads. Even the waters that don't a hula grub still works great. Jigs, spinnerbaits, crankbaits.
As far as soft plastics go I usually use a dark color-junebug, green pumpkin, watermelon, etc. Cranks I will try to match the forage-utah chub, perch, rainbow trout, crawfish.
There are lots of perch and bluegill for the kiddos in Pineview where there is submerged brush and crappie also but the only time I fish for crappie is in Texas where you can cheat (live minnows). Willard has pretty low water so I haven't taken my boat out there but rattletraps usually work. Mantua is a kids goldmine, when the water warms up (it may already have I suppose) just drift a small curly tail for all the bluegill you want. Not much size but they sure are fun. What part of the southeast are you from?

From North Carolina. Grew up fishing in farmers ponds and the creek down the road from my house. I started "really" fishing about 2 years ago when I got a good deal on my boat from a guy I worked with. I was just starting to figure it out down there a little bit whan I had to move up here.
We went to Willard today for about 2 hrs. No luck, but I got the boat out and ran it around the lake a few times, first trip of the year. Kids got bored and the string to pull my trolling motor up broke, so I figured it was a sign to go back in. I looked at it before we left and figured it would be OK for one trip. I need to learn to take the extra 5 min to PREVENT problems, rather than the 30 min to fix them!
I am thinking about going to Pineview tomorrow if the weather holds out.
IF you ever see me on the water stop and say Hi. I will be the only boat with NC regestration on by truck, trailer and boat!

I lived in Asheville, NC for a year, the fishing out there is great. I hope PV treats you better.

Welcome!
It's nice to have another bass guy round here! You know how to catch these bass? The fish are calling your name! Typical Textbook tactics for smallmouth and largemouth bass. Mantua is a jig heaven for big LMBz. Good Luck & Welcome!
