went up to check out the lakes yesterday. went to the north end of E-lake to start with. the road is still snowed in for the first 1/2 mile or so..

so we headed over to the south end.. fairview lakes are still out of reach and the lakes still have ice..

huntington still has ice with some areas just opening up. most spots are 10 to 15 feet of open water around the spring and inlet areas.. so a week or so more there..

cleveland still has ice on 3/4 of the lake.. it is fishable in the open areas.. some nice fat rainbows comeing from there but fishing has been slow..

back to E-lake south the lake is free of ice and is filling fast! it has came up 20 to 25 feet in the last week and looks like it will fill all the way up by the end of the run off.. so it's all looking good up that way... [sly]

fishing at E-lake was fast yesterday. minnows under a bobber was doing best but i was still smacking them good on the rainbow 2" tube as well..

there are a ton of minnows up in the shalows right now. so bring your traps! [laugh]

Sounds like a great report, and just in time -- I am headed up there with my twelve-year-old grandson tomorrow.

good report fuzz. how long do the minnows stay shallow?

Hey Ron, I'm assuming that if that bad boy fills, they must have plugged the leak...or at least slowed it down significantly. Any word from your mining buds?

the minnows will stick around all summer right up to turnover in the fall.. but the big fat ready to spown minnows are up there right now.. and will only be there a short time.. after that it's hard to catch the bigger ones..

i'm not sure whats going on with the mine.. the guy's that work there say they put 60,000 ton's of grout down the hole to plug it.. the dwr guy's say they found a new spring to feed the lake to make up for the lose of water to the mine..the power plant guy's say it's still the mines fault and want the lake fixed ..

so with 3 diffrent storys it's hard to say whats going on with that lake..lol

at lest it is filling up and retaining most the water all year so it's not droping 100 feet below spillway levle any more..lol
