Read about this in the latest Fishing Hunting News Magazine. I will quote the best I can.
"Bass are staging for the spawn at Twin Lake, a res, at the center of a battle between the state and a local irrigation district. The lakes, still controlled by and under IDFG regs, won't be replanted with trout this year, and if the problems between the entities can't be worked out, The Twin Lakes Canal Co. will either close the reservoir to the public or will impose different regulations if is successful applying for a private pond application".
This sounds worrysome to me. Is there any truth to this? I haven't even had a chance to try up there yet. [:/] Sounds like the Sparkinator and I better get up there before it's tooooooo late. [frown]

Now unless something unusual has happened, this isnt a new issue. Alot was to be had on this earlier this spring/winter. Scroll down the topic list and youll find a lot of discussion on it. And unless things have changed in the last week, it was still open to fishing for $5.00 daily use fee. The Fishing and Hunting news is a little late on the issue and nothing has been decided by either party and from what is being heard down that way, not sure the canal company is going to succeed with all the public money and public access that there actually is to the lake based on the F&G regs. Just discussion topics floating around.

You are correct. As of right now there has been no resolution to the problem. Fishing will be allowed on the normal terms for this summer as far as I understand.
This is all a power struggle over the Oneida narrows dam.
Anyone know what the water temp. is?

I wish this would have been resolved by now-------- with Twin Lakes going on thier own and the F&G not giving them a private stocking permit.
There are a lot of good lakes in SE Idaho not need to pander to the Twin Lakes Canal Co. especially if you really are a sportsman.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I heard from a buddy today that said he read in the Preston paper that Twin Lakes Canal Company didnt want anything to do with the DWR now, so Twin and the other two that the canal company owns will allow fishing as of now, but you DONT need a license to fish it. Any truth behind these findings?

I'm starting to get the idea that you're tracking my posts. [shocked] That makes it fun. Just thought I'd let ya know, I let Sparky smell your post ( a very distinctive smell), let him out and he's on your trail . [mad][
] Also, am going to a Preston area Lake next week and am going to keep em all, eat some, give some away, and through the rest away. [sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly][sly] Don't worry ID folks, no way, just my response to my Bud, ok? [

When are you going Leaky? Let me know, maybe I can go to the bank and get a loan out to fill the truck (diesel) up and venture up there with the boat!!![laugh] Really, let me know, I havent been up there all year like we have talked about, it being slow and all because of the GOOD winter that we have had!!! There is a Bass Tourney at Twin on the 12th of July, hopefully they are still having it after all of this crap that is going on!!!

Still need a license per F&G until and if it becomes total private and at that time, the F&G will put on an official public notice on the issue. But in talking to some locals on other canal companies they dont think it will ever happen.
And no idea on water temp, but it cant be warming very much, highs have only been in mid to upper 60s and thats not very often.

Went out Friday morning and didn't even launch, to much wind and rain. Had already paid my 5 bucks so we went back in the afternoon and it turned out to be a pretty decent day. Water temp was 55 and the bluegills and Crappie are just starting to bite.
Tried to launch on the North ramps but the dock was 30 yards away so we went to the ramp on the west side across the dam and the dock was secured and it was a better launch. There is very limited parking on that side. I guess our 5 is not enough to keep the place and the docks usable.
