Oregon State Parks Identification Cards

OPRD issues park access identification cards to every qualifying veteran who submits a completed application for the fee waiver, which applies to the use of RV and tent campsites and visits to all 26 of OPRD’s day-use-fee parks.

To apply for the identification card, veterans with a service-connected disability must:
1. Obtain a letter from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (1220 SW 3rd, Portland OR 97204) stating the veteran has a service-connected disability.
2. Fill out and submit a short, one-page Oregon Parks and Recreation Department application. The application is available in three different ways: online at [#336633]http://www.oregon.gov/OPRD/PARKS/docs/2006_vet_app.pdf[/#336633], from state park offices and by calling 1-800-551-6949 (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
3. Mail or bring the application and a copy of the letter from Veterans Affairs to:
Oregon Parks and Recreation Department
ATTN: Veteran’s Park Pass
2501 SW 1st Ave, Suite 100
Portland OR 97201-4751
After the application is processed, OPRD sends the identification card in the mail, even to veterans who choose to drop off their completed forms. The card is valid for four years.

Oregon is known for such acts. I lived there for about 6 months three years back. You will find similar things not necessarily pertaining to veterans.

Good for Oregon, now if other states would just follow suite that would be awesome. It is a small thing for them to do but it slows support for our troops and thats what counts.

colorado is the same way. when ever i go home i NEVER have to pay for a fishing liscense as long as i have my orders on me. it also applies to small game hunting. some how i am identified as a resident of, CO, UT, NM, VA, NC, WA, and CA. simply based on the fact that i have lived in all of these places. UT is (i believe) the only state that does not allow this.

Utah does do something like that.If you have any disability compensation then you get a free life time state parks pass as well as other benefits. look at utah.gov and you can see what all you are entitled to.

That's nice, so I can enjoy that park pass in 10 years, when I finish my 20!

It is only if you have a service connected disability of 10% or greater.
I sent mine off yesterday, I will give an update when it arrives.

It arrived yesterday in the mail.
I was sceptical at first, I can't wait to go out fishing this weekend.

You can recieve a free life time pass to state parks and eagle pass to the national parks. The state park pass will get you free day use at all state parks and 50% off over night. It's a great benifit and very easy to get just fax the main office in salt lake your disability info and they will mail you your card. For the eagle pass you can just take your info into any national park office.

Lundman,
Here is the website.

http://www.veterans.utah.gov/

I use the form that I get every year and use it so I don't have to pay taxes on my vehicles when I register them each year. Their is a limit on total property value.

The state park pass was new to me and this is the first year trying that one.

The Golden Access passport listed I have not checked into. I work with a guy that was with the forest service and he says their maybe a diabling disability requirement for that one. I am going to look into it this summer.

Hope this helps.
