I get asked all the time, "What's the minimum caliber you would use for Elk?" For the average skills hunter/marksman I feel the .270 should be your absolute minimum. I know many Elk have been taken with various .22 centerfire cartridges (legal in some western States), but I think more hunters would be better off with .30 caliber rifles. The .308, 30-06 or .300 Win mag, not counting the many great .284 (7m/m) cartridges or the "super magnums." What's your opinion?<br><br>Famous last words: "Ah Bears are too big and fat to run fast"
