I would like to catch a crappie out of Gunlock this year. Does anyone know where to go on the lake to catch them this time of the year, or any time of the year? I have crappie lures, but have never really fished for them since trout are so much better (or at least easier anyways)[Wink].

Fish the shallow with brush or gravel bottom. Here is a Willard crappie.

I was messing around on the internet (as usual) the other day and found www.crappie.com It has a lot of articles on techniques, locating, and the behavior of crappie. Can't help you out with Gunlock or Willard though. I've caught a couple this last winter at Lindon BH at Utah Lake. I was using a tiny chartruese tube jig tipped with wax worm dropped about 2 foot below a bobber. I cast it out parallel to the structure, docks in this case and would slowly bring it in. The take was almost inperceptable, the bobber just started moving sideways and so I thought I would set the hook (I'm still new to fishing with spinning outfits). It was a nice 10 inch fish. I put him back just for you to catch [Wink]!

Fishing the shallows will get you a fish or two. What you really want to do is find some of those crawfish under the rocks along the shore and put those on your hook and the fish will just attack them. Happy fishing!
