I am looking for a self contained troller motor. I want to put it on my Hobie Cat 14 (sail boat), but I don't what to carry a car battery on the boat (they are very weight sensitive. I guess my question is does an item like that exist and where would I find one? The smaller the better. It will only be used to get me to shore if the wind dies and out of channels to windy areas so speed is not an issue.
Thanks for the help,

I have heard of people using smaller batteries like the ones used for motercycles, atvs or personal watercraft. The duration of use would be shorter, but you are not looking to go trolling for three hours HaHa.
There is also the option of a small gas motor with the gas tank attached to the motor, but that may be too much weight.
There is also my favorite motor for my canoe...the paddle!

The paddle thing sound like a great idea (and I dont know why I didnt think of it). While the motor would be less effort once it was going, the paddle would stow and unstow a lot easier.
Thanks for the reply,
