Spent last week at the beautful oasis in the desert. Fishing was great as always. Spent the first three nights at the mouth of the Escalante. Found the Stripers right off the point by camp in about forty feet of water. Caught a bunch on Anchovies and made some mighty fine fish tacos-Thanks for the recipe Southforksly, and hope to see you there next year. Had a blast catching smallies off the rock piles. Most were under ten inches but we did boat a few twelve to fourteen inchers. Headed back towards Bullfrog for the last two nights and camped in the back of Annies Canyon. Found lots of crappie, bluegill, and green sunfish here. The catfish were also plentiful at both spots we camped. They will eat anything you have left over from breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We did end up with one largemouth but he was just a pup. Couldn't find the walleye this trip. Maybe next year. Weather was great other than wednesday night when it rained and blew like crazy. Surface water temp on my fishfinder was seventy two degrees in the main channel and two to three degrees warmer in the backs of the canyons.

Nice report. Lake Powell is the crown jewel of the desert lakes. I have only been there once and cant stop talking about it. What is the price of fuel at the Bullfrog marina ??? It was over $4 last April at Whaweap. The price of gas is the reason I have not been back to Powell.

Unleaded at Bullfrog went to 5.06 a gallon the day we left. We usually fill our boats here before we go and then take a bunch of 5 gallon cans to refuel on the lake. We cut the price of going by finding ten or twelve people to go in on the houseboat, food, gas, ect. My wife and I were into the trip about a thousand dollars which is not bad for a five day vacation. A very quiet and fishey vacation. I can't get my wife to touch a fishing pole unless we are down there. Can't wait to get back.
