HI everyone,

I am consisering purcahsing either an H3 or SFC. I can get either one for about the same price around $350. Please help me decide which one to choose. I am having a heck of a time deciding which on to go with. Any feed back or experiences would be a great help.

Thanks

Wow that is a tough one, kinda like which is better Chocolate or Strawberry ice cream. But for what it is worth I love my H3. I have not floated on any of the new SFC, but the old one I picked up used for my wife is a good boat also. I do really like the stability and the ease of maneuverability of the H3. TD should be along soon to chime in on the SFC, I know he has had both and went back the SFC.

Good luck and for the record I like Strawberry.

[cool][#0000ff]The H3 could be considered the "best of the best". It is made from the best components and is all American made. Lots of good design elements not found in most other tubes.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I had and enjoyed an H3 for several months. But, I decided a liked the more compact SFC, even though they are now made in China...like poison pet food, leaded children's toys and other nice stuff. I also like the seats better. I believe in buying American, but only if America makes what I want. Otherwise, I buy what I like and what works best for me.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you look at a 2008 SFC, BEWARE. On their website they claim their air bladders are urethane. But, at Cabelas stores, on the product checklist, they list the air chambers as PVC...vinyl...not as good.[/#0000ff]

I have had both....still have the H3 if that tells you anything.
Like TD said, USA, plus LIFETIME warranty, don't get better than that.
They fold down to about! the same size, when TD said he wanted compact, it is because he hauls two...INFLATED or almost.
I really like the new material on the H3's....the same as the Navigator II. Dave was the original designer of the Super Fact Cats.
Both being the best choice, I am going to say the H3 is the Best of the Best. 6' long means stable as heck, plus I have floated in three feet and less water. Just prop your legs on the sides of the tube...long enough you can do that with ease.
Don't forget, more storage room.

Plus the side bags are also coolers

I'd just like to add my comments on the H3. I bought one a couple of months ago and absolutely love it!!! It's massive, extremely stable, storage room galore in the two BIG side pockets, and easily manouverable with my Force Fins (diving type). I made a PVC pipe side mount for two extra poles and my Fishing Buddy modeled after the ones some of the other forum guys/gals made and it works great too!! I transport my H3 fully inflated in my Ford Explorer Sport with no problems at all. It seems to be VERY well constructed and durable. I can not say one thing bad about it. I was considering a SFC when I found the H3 on sale for $325 on Dave's website and bought it immediately. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with an H3. Just my thoughts and opinion.

PS: every time I take my H3 out I intend to take a picture of the complete rig but to date have forgotten to do that. I'll try to remember that this Wednesday and post it on here.

Thanks everybody for your input. An H3 it will be. I was hoping to hear all good things about the H3 because I was really leaning that way. Oh, and by the way I caught a 22 lb. carp on my 4 wt. redington rs2 this morning. When I get this tube I'll be able to start chasing these critters on the other side of the lake.

Thanks again.

I would like to see that myself. I know Carp are thicker/heavier than trout, but that thing had to be around a yard long!
Right On!

Unfortunately I left my camera in my wifes car. Right after I caught him I realized that I didn't have my camera. Gonna buy a couple of one time use cameras and through them in my gear bag. Probably tie one to my scale too. Took me about 15 minutes to get him in, caught him on a #10 woolly bugger, black. Most of the carp I catch average betwen 5-8 lbs. so this was really cool. I usually fish for bass but these guys are much more challenging and fun. I'm getting to the point where I spend most of my day going after them. The lake where I go for them is in a really tranquill area. It's surrounded my mature forest and there are always lots of wildlife to observe while I'm out there, deer, beaver, ducks, geese, etc. really neat place. It was because of this that I wanted to get a float tube. I could just float around all day and check out he scenery.

Yeah he was long and thick, huge belly. When I lifted him up I held him next to my waist and his tall hit the top of my boot. So I'm guessing maybe 22-25 inches or so. But his gerth was about as round as my thigh. Had a good day caught 7, 3 broke off. These things are so smart and strong it's just a riot. I had one on that was pretty large as well. He took off for a weed bed and having the 4 wt. I couldn't really turn him like I wanted. So he got into the weeds and he must have rooted his nose in the mud and weeds to dislodge my fly because all I retreived was a bunch of weeds and my fly. Made me laugh because it seemed like he knew exactly how to dump my fly.

sounds like a great day on the water.. camera or not.. a fish that size had to of put you on your fins so he would not drag you around tooooo much.. [sly]

Unfortunately I don't have a tube yet so I was fighting him from shore. But I soon will recify my tubelessness with the purchase of an H3 and maybe I'll take my 6 wt. next time. Nah.

sorry.. forgot we were on the thread where you were asking for input on the h3 and sfc.. must be another sign of old age. [crazy]

[cool][#0000ff]There are three signs of old age. First...loss of memory. And, I can't remember the other two.[/#0000ff]
