A glassy Callville launch at 5:00 AM and quick trip to 33 Hole. Fished that area for 2 hours with no bites. Guides I saw were struggling as striper bite was slow even chumming and fishing shad.

Water temperature about 72. Moved over to west side of Black Island and caught first bass about 9:00 in about 10 ft of water off a chunk rock point. Wind came up around 10:00 AM and I moved towards Swallow Bay. It began white-capping with 2 ft swells. I drift fished and cast crankbaits. Got a couple small (dink) smallmouth.

Got even rougher and I moved to first cove north-east of the Callville Bay entrance. Got a couple more bass there off chunk rock points in about 10 ft. Missed a couple bites there. Fished a little grass and saw 3 smallies come chasing my surface lure. Left when I saw how little they were. Usually some striper's in there - not on Monday

Ended the day in next major cove east on the north side. Wind was really blowing by then. I got a bass off every exposed point I fished. Fishing uphill and fishing the mid to bottom layer of water from 25ft to shallow. I quit at 3:00. I think I caught about 9 fish. Largest was 3 lb. smallmouth. 2 largemouth at 15 and 16 inches.

Nice Post! Sounds like a great day on the water! It seems like everytime I want to get out on the lake the wind is blowing. Makes for interesting boat control. Is it me, or have we had more wind this year than normal?

I sure feel like I've been pushed off the water a lot cause of all this wind. Been missing trips that I shouldn't be missing. Its just no fun fishing in a gale.
