Are you talking about the Idaho bass hunters open on Milner????

Yes, I believe that is correct. Do you have some new information on the Tourney?

I have a stack of entry forms they sent me. Is there info you need? I have a buddy that might be looking Ill ask him. He is a good guy and knows milner well.

hey, tell your buddy to get on here and tell me what the trick is to catching bass (from the shore) at milner! i end up with 5"-9" and sometimes a 12". and they only seem to bite in the morning. i try near the dam, at perch point.

Milner is hard to fish from the bank. You need to get away from the bank in most areas to get the bigger fish. I finished 2nd in the last tournament up there and I fished in the middle all day.

I fished the shore and bank there today, all over the area as far as possible, except the dam area. Dont catch much there usually.
I caught about 30 smallies total, with 11 keepers. 3 were in the 3# range. Large girths. On a tourney string i would have had about 14-16 Lbs. total. Not bad from shore. The other 2 about 14-16 inches. The other 25 smallies or so were 12 and under.
Last week I had a string of 5 for just over 17#'s from shore. No tricks, just experience. My largest from shore last week was 4.65 pounds. They are close to staging, and all within range.
Keep trying....

if you weren't near the dam, were you off of trout point or bass point?

I would be happy to discuss this after the 19th of July with you. Keeping as many as possible from large catches of SmalMouth Bass at certain locations before a Tournament is usually a strategy not spoken of. No offense, but that is an experienced level of practice.
If your looking for a fun location to bank fish though, Dierkes Lake in Twin Falls has Largemouth bass that are starting to pair for spawn in the next month or so. The largest i have caught there was last Tuesday, at 2.5 pounds, believe it or not. The are small fish for now, but if all would catch and release, they will increase in size by 1000% in 5 years.
The trout there are quite a catch as well. Plenty to keep. Focus on the shallow areas, 5-10 feet deep in the coves with weedy spots.
