Can anyone give me advice on which lake in this region would be best suited for shore fishing? Where and how would you fish? My family will be in this area on vacation later this month from Utah. We may see if we can rent kick boats somewhere. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have always done well on Yellowstone Lake with a Jakes spin-a-lure. Gold with red spots. I have also done well with various colored Krocadiles. Find deeper water, cast it out as far asyou can, let it sink and start reeling. The cutts are easy to catch, absolutely gorgous, and fight like crazy. The fag rodders get 'em on black or purple crystal buggers. Use sinking line and strip slowly or slow troll with a kick boat.

Last Tuesday I did well on the west end of Island Park Res. For the last several years the lake has not filled up and a lot of vegetation has grown on the bank . Now this area is under water and full of worms and insects . I caught most of the fish in 10' of water . You can drive out on the fingers and camp . Good luck

My son and I caught a bunch of big cutts below Jackson Lake dam. We didn't fish where everyone else does on the left side as you are on the dam facing downstream. We tried that for a while with no luck. It was too shallow and mossy.
We hiked down a pretty steep trail on the right side and fished just below the dam. We were using power bait or eggs, can't remember which. Have fun over there.

I have heard the Jakes Spin O Lure is really a code word that Craig used on his trips to San Francisco. [
