Idaho Walleye Unlimited held its 11th annual Spring Classic Walleye Tournament on Fathers Day weekend. Forty-five teams from seven states made their way to Salmon Creek Falls Reservoir for a shot at the more than $11,000 in prize money and gifts.

Wes Karren and Travis Grant from Duchesne, Utah, won the tournament with a record 38 pounds, 2 ounces. But the talk of the tournament was Debbie Schaffer's 12-pound, 8.7-ounce tournament record walleye. "This is the biggest walleye I have ever caught," said Shaffer, of Willard, Utah. "We love Idaho."

John Harrison, from the Magic Valley Chapter of Idaho Walleye Unlimited, said: "Fishing was exceptional. Every team caught legal fish. Idaho Walleye Unlimited and Idaho Fish and Game have worked hand-in-hand for several years to get this fishery where it is now. We cannot thank our members, sponsors, and Idaho Fish and Game enough."

[cool] Now then, Thanks for the early post . Let me just take a minute to brag a bit. we broke damm near every record there is or was at this tourament. 46 teams and no zereos except for a disqualification. heaviest 2 day total ever!!! 2nd largest boat count. best pay out ever.biggest big fish ever! 12+ lbs.Only 3 dead fish in 2 days. This event went very smooooth. It was my 1st event as president and will not be the last. I have the best volunteers ever and wish to congradulate all of them. I still miss that old brown Lund though and wish he could have been there. BUT i think he was at times. We all miss Roger but he put all of the field on fish this year. Debbie Shaffer caught the toad and pics on the Utah board if interested. The next big event in Idaho is the King of the Water August 30+31st. for info mail me or post me at Trollem34@yahoo.com and I'll get you info.

This tourney always has me interested, but since I've moved to Idaho I've always got stuck doing something else during tourney time.[frown]
I need to get back into the tourneys bad, Team Quill hasn't caught a walleye since 2002 at Banks Lake. All my walleye tackle is just sitting there looking at me on the garage shelf begging to be used.
